What is Montessori?

Montessori is a proven educational system that is extremely effective for all types of children. Montessori focuses on the individual  rather than the group, and fosters critical thinking and independence, as well as a deep understanding of the foundations of math, geometry, language, geography, history, science and art. The Children’s House is a pure Montessori preschool that rigorously sticks to the proven and time-tested principles of Montessori. The Children’s House was founded in 2004 by Debbie Richardson, a dedicated Master Montessori Teacher with 19 years of experience.

Why is a Montessori Education So Important?

Years 3-6 are the most important formative years in a child’s life because this is the period when the child’s mind is uniquely sensitive to new concretes and ideas, and the mind soaks up information and learning techniques like a sponge. Spending a little on your child’s education during these formative years pays massive dividends down the road as your child learns how to learn, how to think, correctly, and develops a genuine love of learning that stays with them their whole life, making them hungry for knowledge and self-improvement. (Unfortunately the reverse is true too; the wrong environment can also destroy a child’s natural passion for learning, which can have life-long negative effects.)

There are few things that you can do for your child that will have as much impact as giving them a positive and powerful start in their education. With a solid grasp on the basics of academics achieved in a loving environment that nurtures their curiosity and empowers their minds, they will tackle learning in later years with confidence and passion.
